Job Title: Clinical Research Assistant Job Description Founded in 1991, IBJI is the largest orthopedic group practice in Illinois. With more than 150 physicians in every orthopedic specialty, IBJI offers care for adults and children from some of the most accomplished and respected orthopedists in the country. Serving northern Illinois and northwest Indiana with over 100 locations, IBJI makes it easy to access care. Our headquarters is in Park Ridge, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago. Our clinical services include advanced MRI imaging, pain management, non-surgical and surgical treatment plans, rheumatology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, wellness, and sports and sports training. Ortho Access walk-in clinics provide same day care for orthopedic injuries. Comprehensive care offered all in one place enables physicians, therapists and staff to work closely together, so that patients and families achieve better outcomes. Collaborative care is also more efficient. In many cases, IBJI services are substantially less expensive than those provided by large healthcare systems and emergency rooms. Summary The Research Assistant supports the implementation and conduct of clinical research studies under the direction of a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) or Principal Investigator (PI). This role involves assisting with subject recruitment, data collection, documentation, and general study coordination in compliance with regulatory guidelines and institutional policies. Responsibilities Assist with participant recruitment, screening, and scheduling of research visits Obtain informed consent under appropriate supervision and ensure proper documentation Collect, enter, and maintain research data in electronic and paper-based systems Assist in completing case report forms (CRFs) and resolving data queries Coordinate specimen collection, labeling, and shipment per protocol requirements Maintain study logs, source documentation, and subject files Prepare materials for study visits or procedures Assist with regulatory document filing, IRB correspondence, and compliance tracking Support monitoring visits, audits, and study closeout activities Attend team meetings, trainings, and sponsor calls as required Other job functions as assigned Maintain a clean and safe work environment Other duties as assigned Work Environment Clinical and office-based settings Hybrid work model Requires interaction with patients, clinicians, and external research partners Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods, if needed Requires travel to clinical sites as needed (must have own transportation) Requirements Requirements Education Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a health, science, or related field Certifications/Licensure GCP or Human Subjects Research Certification Experience Interest in or 6+ months of experience in clinical research, healthcare, or laboratory work Previous clinical or research experience Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry systems Familiarity with medical terminology, EHR systems, or clinical trial databases Soft Skills Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Requirements Stand or sit for extended periods of time This description is intended to provide only basic guidelines for meeting job requirements. Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience.
